RESIDENT Monitoring: Once daily resident screening is done by care staff and each resident is monitored for any concerning symptoms.
VISITOR/STAFF/CONTRACTOR Screening: Upon entry to our community every visitor and staff member will be pre-screened by a greeter using our pre-screening tool. This allows us to add an extra layer of protection for your loved ones. This includes any contractors providing services in our building.
PROOF OF VACCINATION: Effective October 26th, 2021 visitors that are not fully vaccinated will no longer be allowed to visit in our community with the exception of children under 12 years of age or those with an approved medical exemption. Please be advised that if you only have one vaccine, then you will not be permitted in the building until you can show proof of full vaccination status. All visitors are required to show proof of vaccine status as well as another piece of ID.
VISITOR PLAN: You are no longer required to book your social visits with our visits team but we ask that you only visit within the hours of 9:00 am to 4:30 pm daily. Our staff also coordinates video calls so residents can maintain connections with family and friends who are not able to visit. Contact [email protected] to book your visit.
ESSENTIAL VISITS: Includes visits for compassionate care, palliative and end of life care. If these visits are not within our regular operating hours of 9:00 am to 4:30 pm then please communicate directly with the nursing floor as to when you plan to arrive as pre-screening is required for these visits also.
VACCINE PLAN: We have completed our COVID Booster clinic for our residents, should any new residents require the booster we will reach out to Island Health to coordinate the plan for vaccination.
STAFF EDUCATION: We have a trained COVID Response Team in the event of an outbreak. We have performed hand hygiene audits as well as provided in depth Infection and prevention control training to every staff member in the building. We have also developed COVID Safety Binders for our care team which provides guidance around our current pandemic protocols.
HOUSEKEEPING PROTOCOLS: We have enhanced cleaning protocols throughout our community which include consistent cleaning of high touch surfaces.
PPE: We maintain an adequate supply of PPE for our staff so they can continue to provide the safest care possible.
PHYSICAL DISTANCING: We are mindful of this requirement within our building.
Even though we are focused on maintaining our Covid infection control protocols, this is the home of our residents and our goal is to ensure their mental well-being through their many interactions with staff and visitors.
