Food Services Manager/Chef

Sidney All Care Residence is looking for an enthusiastic Food Services Manager/Chef who loves working in a team-oriented environment.  If this sounds like you, apply here today!

Reporting directly to the General Manager and working closely with the Dietitian and Director of Care, the Food Services Manager is responsible for all aspects related to the management and operations of the Food Services Department ensuring the highest standards of quality service.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A diploma or certification from a recognized Food Service Management Program from an accredited post-secondary institute or a combination of education and experience in a position as a Food Service Supervisor specific to health care or Certification/Diploma from a recognized chef’s training program; membership (or eligible for) in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management, or is a Registered Dietitian;
  • Three to five years management experience in a health care setting is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food services and delivery programs;
  • Experience managing a team through motivation, coaching and development;
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently;
  • Valid Food Safe Level 1 and 2;
  • Red Seal Chef preferred.

 

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient computer aptitude with relevant skills including Windows based software including Outlook, Excel and Humanity scheduling software;
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and skillfully problem solve;
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, empathy and patience, and the temperament necessary to maintain a caring manner while working with team members and residents;
  • Maintain a commitment to continued professional development;
  • Ability to respond efficiently to a fast paced environment;
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others

Permanent Part Time Food Service Worker/Dietary Aide

Must be available to work weekends and the following shifts: 0530-1400 and 1100-1900 and 1200-2000.

Required Qualifications, Skills, & Abilities

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Previous experience in a food service setting, specifically in long term care or a hospital setting is considered to be an asset

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Serves meals to residents according to their dietary restrictions and individual preference.
  • Sets up the dining room prior to meal service and cleans and sanitizes these areas following meal service.
  • Portions beverages and snacks according to portion control consistent with the direction of our Dietitian.
  • Maintains sanitary conditions by routinely cleaning work areas and equipment and practices safe food handling techniques.

CASUAL-PART TIME COOK

At Sidney All Care we believe that quality food enhances quality of life. We take pride in providing our residents with meals made from scratch by our talented culinary team members, using only the best, fresh ingredients. Duties and Responsibilities

-Prepare a seasonally inspired menu from scratch using the finest, fresh ingredients available, and present meals to our residents in an aesthetic and pleasing manner.

-Follow guidelines set out for portion control, FIFO procedures, and proper food handling to minimize waste and ensure food safety.

-Operate all kitchen equipment proficiently while following proper sanitization and temperature logging protocols.

-Receiving and proper storage of deliveries.

Required Qualifications

Current Foodsafe level 1

-Must have a minimum of 2 years related work experience.

-Must have the ability to communicate tactfully and maturely when interacting with residents, staff, suppliers, volunteers, and the family and guests of our residents.

-Must be in good health, free of communicable diseases, and able to do physically demanding work under pressure in a warm, noisy environment.

-Must be well groomed and have a high standard of personal hygiene.

-Ability to read and write English and follow instructions.

-Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
